Modern Cloth Diaper Covers

The dark ages of rubber pants and sharp diaper pins are long gone. Today’s parents can choose from a wide variety of soft, washable, easy to use cloth diaper covers. Gone are the crinkles and leaks. Diaper pins are gone too. Some parents use snug-fitting diaper covers to hold the diapers on. Others parents use Snappi’s – a simple diaper fastener that creates a snug fit without any danger of sticking you or your baby with a pin.

Whatever diaper you choose, quality cloth diaper covers will make your life easier. You can choose from pull on diaper covers, Velcro-like hook and loop tabs or snaps. You can choose a one size diaper cover that will fit from birth to potty training, or you can choose a sized diaper cover that fits just right at different stages.

Either way, you’ll save a boatload of money over the cost of disposable diapers. Did you know that most parents spend over $2,000 diapering just one baby for two years? Great cloth diaper covers and quality cloth diapers will run you just a few hundred dollars – and they will last through more than one child if they are well cared for. Imagine the savings? What could your family do with that kind of extra money every month?

Many parents choose prefold cloth diapers for their economy and ease of use. Pairing a good diaper cover with prefold diapers is easy. The packages we offer make it simple to get just what you need.

Choosing Prefold Cloth Diapers

Prefold cloth diapers are the thick rectangles of absorbent cotton fabric that most people think of as cloth diapers. Prefolds often get a bad rap because many people have only seen the inferior “diapers” made by big companies. They don’t realize that not all prefold cloth diapers are created equal. The cloth diapers you’ll find in big stores are often made with polyester batting (it says so right on the label). Or, they are made from very thin fabric with just a few layers. Really, they are intended to be used as bupr cloths – and not very good burp cloths either.

These inferior diapers don’t absorb well, so they are bound to leak! Worse, most people have never heard of modern cloth diaper covers – so they try to make it all work with plastic pants. Plastic pants are crinkly, they don’t wash well, and they hold odors badly. Chances are, if someone has “tried” cloth diapers had leaks – it is because they were sold these inferior diapers. For real absorbency, you need several layers of soft, absorbent 100 % cotton. Diaper service quality prefolds, the kind you’ll find at specialty cloth diaper retailers like Little for Now and PrefoldClothDiapers.com , are what you need for a dry and happy baby. A dry baby makes a happy mama too!

You can toss out the idea of diaper pins as well, these days most parents use either a snug fitting diaper cover to hold the diaper on (not my favorite method), or an easy to use Snappi diaper fastener. The Snappi holds the diaper on snugly, yet is easy to remove.

When you shop for prefold cloth diapers, you’ll find that there are two main kinds. Indian prefolds and Chinese prefolds. Those names simply refer to where the diapers are made. Indian prefolds tend to be a bit softer and slightly more absorbent. Chinese prefolds tend to be more durable. Honestly, the differences are slight, although you’ll find many people who swear one is better than the other. I have used both on my baby and have no real preference.

No matter which kind of diaper service quality prefolds you choose, you’ll enjoy how well they work and how easy they are to use. I have used prefold cloth diapers on my little girl at least half the time over the last 17 months (starting right from birth) and we love how easy they are to use.

Prefold Cloth Diapers

“Does anyone even use cloth diapers anymore?” The answer is a resounding yes. If you are new to cloth diapering, you may be surprised to learn just how many people have opted for cloth diapers. Whether you are looking for a break for your wallet, or to save trees and landfill space, or whether you are interested in a more natural option for diapering your little one, you can count on cloth diapers.

These days, there are modern cloth diapers that wick moisture away from baby’s skin, or fasten with snaps or hook and loop tabs (like Velcro). However, many parents are still choosing to go with old-fashioned prefold cloth diapers. Prefolds are the basic, thick rectangles of cloth you likely think of when you picture cloth diapers. Today’s Diaper Service Quality prefolds are much more absorbent than the old Curity diapers your mom  or grandma might have used.

These days, diaper pins are not even necessary. A snug-fitting diaper cover will hold a diaper in place, or you can use a cool little contraption called a Snappi. These stretchy little closures hook directly to the diaper, holding it closed without pins.

Come, see how cloth diapers have changed – you’ll be amazed at how easy they are to use - and how much money cloth diapering can save you.
